Beautiful writing, Lisa. You provoked my thoughts and my heart. I haven't read the book yet, though I have been hearing that it quite an emotional ride. Rowling is amazingly tuned into the collective and universals of the human experience.
You wrote "It is only through the experience of death that we discover how deeply we love life." I have been experiencing this as I relate to my aging father and I feel into his inevitable passing. These moments spent with him have sparked a personal death in me, a dying to oneself experience. A transformation as I release the beliefs, thoughts and behaviors that have kept me from loving life and loving myself. With this letting go there is a grieving,a laying bare, an opening and cracking of the heart, that is as you said, "miraculous and mysterious". I agree with you, we must honor our grief, embrace and move into it, experiencing it's healing powers gently and courageously. To grieve is to be human. As spiritual warriors we journey "into the valley of the shadow of death", only to arise more fully awake, alive and in love.
