Intriguing post and I feel, a needed inquiry. Our culture has become very compartmentalized, specialized. In some ways this limits the permission a person gives to themselves to broaden their skill set, explore new interests and be of service in a way that expresses the totality of their natural gifts. This reminds me of a book I read "The Man Who Tapped the Secrets of the Universe" by Walter Russell. If we cultivate our relationship with "Source" our apptitudes in life expand, the inner well is tapped and our full self-expression, unlimited by labels and "isms", can pour forth.
Relationships, even professional and/or client/coach relationships that are empowering shift and fluctuate, roles change. The key that Lisa points out is the importance of listening and... not just listening to anothers words; listening to our own inner voice and heart. "Listen, twice as much as you speak" was something a mentor of mine once said. If we are talking we not only can't hear the other person, we also may not hear the Soul guidance that is showing us the appropriate steps to take next. Listening supports and enables us to nurture our partnerships within and without. Listening can be a learned skill and the easiest way I know is to go out in nature, the ocean, creek shore, somewhere where nature is speaking and just listen. It is a meditation, but one specifically to help us remember that we are part of nature and everything in nature has a role, a symbiosis. Discover that still place inside and then bring this kinesthetic with you when in the therapuetic/ coaching environment with a client. If we learn to pay attention to the subtle (and not so subtle) whispers, symbols and cycles that are constantly informing us, we then have the opportunity to share the gift of listening with others. It is a generous act. |
